Accreditation, Graduation, and Diploma
Is the Advanced Academics program accredited?
Yes! Advanced Academics is fully accredited by both the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and the North Central Association (NCA). Courses are aligned to state standards.
Who will issue the diploma if my student takes his/her classes online?
Typically, the school with which we partner will issue the diploma on behalf of the online program.
If my student takes courses online, will he or she attend a graduation ceremony?
Typically students who are enrolled in the virtual program will participate in either a graduation with their fellow online students or in some cases will graduate in the same ceremony as their fellow students at the local high school. Graduation will be determined by the partnering school.
How it Works
How does this work?
Because all of our courses are online, Advanced Academics offers students flexibility that they might not receive in a traditional setting. Our curriculum is challenging, interactive, and self-paced. All of our courses are backed by our staff of highly-qualified, certified teachers who are available via instant message, phone, or e-mail. We also offer a 24/7 technical support so that your student can get help when he or she needs it.
What grade levels does Advanced Academics serve?
We offer the ability to serve grades 6-12; however, it is up to our partnering schools to determine what grade levels they will accept.
Is online learning for my student?
That’s up to you! The online student must take responsibility for his or her own learning. In any online education program, the student must be a self-directed learner, be motivated to study, and have a basic grasp of the Internet.
What is the cost of taking online courses?
Most students could take their courses online for FREE. Our standard cost per online course enrollment is $400. However, if Advanced Academics is a partner with your local school or district, the same funding used for traditional students can be used for online students. How quickly can my student move through the course?
All of our courses are set up on a 120 calendar day schedule, similar to a typical semester. However, students have the ability to move through the courses at their own paces.
Teaching & Curriculum
Who is my student’s teacher?
Your student’s teacher for each course is a certified classroom teacher who has experience teaching in both online and traditional classrooms. Your student's first introduction to his or her teacher will be in a welcome e-mail letter that he or she will receive when the online course is approved by his or her district. He or she will also receive a welcome phone call from his or her teacher after the enrollment is approved. His or her teacher will give an overview of the course and answer any questions as needed.
What materials are needed in order to take Advanced Academics courses?
Most of the courses offered by Advanced Academics can be taken 100% online, so there is very little need for any additional materials. Some advanced courses may require additional materials. The only things your student really needs to begin coursework are Internet access and a computer. All of our courses can be accessed through dial-up Internet access, but high-speed access is recommended.
What does my student need to do to succeed in an online course?
When your student takes an online course, he or she needs to prepare just as he or she would for any course in a classroom setting. Remember, we’re completely online, so the teacher is online and not face-to-face, and the textbook is on a computer. In an online course, time management is important to your student’s success because most activities can be accomplished on his or her own time and he or she doesn’t necessarily have to be online at the same time as the teacher or other students.
How do students receive credit for courses?
Upon successful completion of each course, your student’s teacher will send your student a congratulatory e-mail. Your school district will grant credit for the course if your student successfully complete it.
Technical Requirements
What type of software or hardware will my student need to take these courses?
There are some basic requirements for the computer on which your student will be working. Click here to see the basic requirements.
